Movies About Killer Fish Who Should Be Kept in Giant Safe Fish Tanks Pt. 2

The sea is a mysterious and strange place. There are immensely deep section of the ocean that still have not been discovered or studied, which makes the ocean a subject of much terror and horror in people. Film makers have taken this mysteriousness and horror of the water to make some of the scariest but often unbelievable horror movies based on killer fish or sharks. Here is a list of films about killer fish who should be kept in large fish tanks so that they cannot cause anymore terror or death.

Killer Fish

Lee Majors starred in this strange, low budget attempt to cash in on the success of “Jaws” made by the Italian director Antonio Margheriti who is known for such powerful cinematic works such as “Devil of the Desert Against the Son of Hercules”, “Space Devils” and “Flesh for Frankenstein.” The plot for “Killer fish” is about a group of jewel thieves who attempt to uncover a treasure in piranha filled waters. There are numerous betrayals and backstabbing amongst the group as they all greedily attempt to make their fortune. Strangely there are a number of actors in this film that you would think would have passed on the film for something better, from Lee Majors to Karen Black to Margeaux Hemingway. It’s now considered a rare and hard to find film, so if you get the chance to see it take the opportunity.

Orca

I’m sure the director and writer thought that they could make the Orca, or “Killer Whale” into a feared fish like the great white shark but they couldn’t—the orca is just too adorable, besides for the teeth. Reportedly, producer Luciano Vincenzioni, after the success of “Jaws”, was told to “"find a fish tougher and more terrible than the great white” and thus we have the killer whale orca. The hilariously over the top opening sequence shows the motives behind why this particular orca is so angry at the world after we see a female and pregnant orca being captured by fishers. The female orca miscarries its baby and then dies while the “husband” orca looks on. The male orca then goes on a rampage of killing revenge. There is actually a group of people who consider “Orca” one of the best films in the stupidly named “eco-horror” sub genre. The film is notable for actor Richard Harris and Bo Derek in early roles.
