How to Recycle Old Postcards
Print postcards are the simplest print materials to use for sending messages to people. Every year, people receive postcards from loved ones, friends or companies during special occasions. Once you’ve read the content of the postcards, these print materials go straight to the trash because they basically serve no more purpose for you. Before disposing old postcards, why not think of creative ways to recycle them?
Just imagine the hard work that online postcard manufacturers put on just to produce high quality postcards. Don’t let their efforts go unnoticed by throwing old postcards in the trash. Recycle your old postcards by selling them to vintage stores or postcard collectors. You can also recycle print postcards creatively with the help of these ideas.
• Collage: Cut out the images of old custom postcards and put the pieces together to create a collage. Play with your imagination and create an excellent artwork from scrap. Enhance the appearance of your collage by placing your creative project in a frame. You can either give the collage as a birthday gift to friends or make money by selling your creations to interested customers.
• Birthday Scrapbook: Surprise a friend or loved one with a creative handmade gift like a birthday scrapbook. Use the old custom postcards as pages of your scrapbook or as borders for photos. Cut out the texts from the postcards to create captions for the photos. Make the birthday scrapbook more special by placing your handmade birthday present in a box and top it off with a fancy ribbon.
• Altered Books: Be creative and resourceful by making altered books from old print postcards. Think of a story concept to guide you in creating your own altered books. The concept can be inspired by an original story, a scene from your favorite movie or your own experiences.
• Gift Tags: Another creative postcard recycling idea is to cut the images on the print postcards and use them as gift tags. Just punch a hole on the print material and tie a piece of ribbon or string.
• Home Decors: Cut the images on the postcard and place them on a frame to use as wall or table décor. You can also attach the old postcards on a glass to create your own candle holder. A floral image will look good with lavender scented candles.
